My journey as an artist began when my grandmother, a gifted painter, bought me oil
paints and instructed me in their use. From this pivotal experience I followed the
creative path, first with painting and drawing , later working three dimensionally with
jewelry and metal working.
In the early 1990's I began a spiritual quest, participating in workshops based
on indigenous spirituality. My practice of shamanic techniques merged with my creative
work, and I began making figures that celebrated the natural world.
I live in a beautiful hardwood forest along a big creek. There, through exploration,
scavenging and contemplation, I find my inspiration and many of the natural materials
incorporated in my figurative sculptures. The spirit of the unseen, which speaks to me
through the natural world, guides my creative process.
